Sustaining Local Businesses in a Changing Economy
Stephen Erickson is the CEO and President of PeoplesRx, Austin's iconic holistic health and wellness pharmacy that has been serving the community since 1980. Founded by Bill Swail, PeoplesRx has remained a family-owned business dedicated to supporting Austinites. Following the passing of its founder and the financial challenges brought on by the COVID-19 lockdown, Stephen stepped in to guide the company through a pivotal turnaround. By adjusting unprofitable departments, optimizing staffing models, and adjusting store hours, PeoplesRx returned to profitability and positioned itself for long-term success. Today, the focus is on bolstering marketing and advertising efforts to attract new customers while maintaining the loyalty of longtime patrons. Like many retailers, the company embraces the challenge of competing with online offerings, leveraging its unique strengths to provide personalized service and a community-focused experience that sets it apart.
