WCC in the Picayune May 2017May 04, 2017I watched a story on television the other day about a Blockbuster video store that is still thriving, albeit in Alaska. That led to a conversation about things that were once a common part of our lives that today’s generation has either never heard of or never seen. Do you remember carrying binders full of music CDs in your car, a ballpoint pen that changed colors depending on which lever you clicked, a homemade mix tape recorded from the radio, the sound of a typewriter, rolling down a car window with a hand crank, or when a hashtag was called a pound sign? A lot of those things go way back, but others are fairly recent. Change can be good. Things progress. Our lives can get easier.
What isn’t easy sometimes is keeping up with all those changes. That’s why this month’s topic for the Westlake Community Luncheon is one we can all benefit from. It’s called “The Other Side of the Table – Sales Strategies for Current Day Business”. Let’s face it, it’s not just the little things in our lives that have changed, but today’s business environment has changed as well. We have more diverse generations in the marketplace and more tools at our disposal. Even our expectations for transactions have changed.
The Westlake Community Luncheon will be held on Tuesday, May 16th from 11:30am – 1:00pm at Austin Country Club and is open to everyone in the greater Westlake community. Our speaker this month is Steve Zbranek, successful business owner, seasoned buyer, and professional speaker. Reservations may be placed at www.WestlakeChamber.com.

Member Spotlight: This month we’d also like to spotlight a local favorite and valued member of the Westlake Chamber: Westlake Hills Vision Center in Davenport Village. Dr. Adam Drees, O.D. takes great pride in offering every patient the best in eye and vision care. Whether he's conducting a routine eye exam, helping with a pair of hard-to-fit contacts, or helping to diagnose and treat an eye condition/disease, he strongly believes in taking a patient-centered approach, carefully explaining all treatment options, and making sure you're well informed. He'll never hesitate to spend a few extra minutes answering any questions you may have or addressing your concerns, as his goal is to make sure you leave the office satisfied and confident in the eye care services you've received. In addition to Dr. Drees, the office is run by a great team of eye care professionals and office staff who assist with everything from scheduling appointments and processing insurance paperwork to vision pre-testing and everything in between. We truly believe that our team is what makes Westlake Hills Vision Center the best optometry office in the area.
