Westlake Chamber Philanthrophy Project:

MOBILE LOAVES AND FISHES - Volunteers Needed

The best networking strategy is to develop relationships with the people you want to know better! One of the greatest benefits this Chamber offers its members is the opportunity to participate in the Mobile Loaves and Fishes project, where we take food, clothing, and smiles to Austin's homeless and working poor individuals and families.

We have two volunteer project dates each month: the 1st Wednesday and the 4th Monday. Volunteers are needed for the "Make Ready" team--to prepare sandwiches and load the truck with food and drinks. The "Truck Team" are those volunteers who want to deliver the food directly to the people in need. You can sign up for either or both jobs, either or both days. Only 6 people can go in the truck on each run, so volunteers rotate each month. "Make Ready" meets at 4:45 pm; truck leaves at 5:30 pm. Truck team is usually finished by 7:30.

We would love to have you volunteer. It is such a rewarding service opportunity, and a great way to really get to know fellow Chamber members. SPECIAL THANK YOU!

  • Texenza Coffee (Steve Baer, Manager, and Rich Timmins, Owner) for donating 110 cups of coffee and condiments
  • Dick Clay, State Farm Insurance for donating three gallons of coffee

These generous donations aided Mobile Loaves & Fishes/Westlake Chamber volunteers to better serve homeless Austinites. This support warmed many people in December who would otherwise have not received warm beverages in the very cold weather!
